Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, June 21st in Johnson’s Funeral Home. Services will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, June 22nd in Southgate Church of Christ with Paul Shero officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Arrangements are by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
Mildred was born November 19, 1923 in San Angelo to William Gobel and Clare Loretta “Green” Luther. She was a lifetime resident of San Angelo and a member of Southgate Church of Christ.
Mildred was co-founder of Abbott’s Supermarket and Mayfield Country Store. She was past President of Glenmore PTA, Secretary-Treasurer of Los Hermanous, President of B.P.O.E. Does and Volunteer at San Angelo Community Medical Center.
Mildred was married to Leon Thurman Abbott on April 30, 1943 in San Angelo. He preceded her in death on March 25, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother William Goble, Jr., one sister Cecil Hope and her great grandson Kyler Lee.
Survivors include three sons Bobby Abbott and wife Loretta of San Angelo, Guy Abbott and wife Sabre of San Angelo, Lonnie Abbott and wife Millie of McKinney; one daughter Mary Beitler and Regis Beitler of Lewisville; one sister Willie Louise Fenton of Bangs; one sister-in-law Lamoine Abbott of San Angelo; grandchildren Sheila Baker and husband Gary, Guy Abbott, Jr. and wife Elisha (Rocki), Jessica McCormick and husband Josh, Elizabeth McGuire and husband Will, Elisha Leathers and husband Robb, Laura Beitler, Rodney Abbott and wife Wendy, Randy Abbott and wife Robin, William Adair, and David Adair and wife Brandi ; great grandchildren Cody Lee and wife Randi, Tyson Baker, Ayden and Avery Abbott, Jacob and Drew McCormick, Grace and Liam McGuire, Karsten Leathers, Haylee and Hannah Abbott, Colten and Caleb Daniels, Tyler, Lynn, Diamond and Dylan Abbott, Lorene Stanley, Jessie Wright, Jade Adair, Katlin Stokes, Devan and Delanie Adair, Xavier Hernandez and Jeffrey Garza; eight great great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Rodney Abbott, Guy Abbott, Jr., Tyler Abbott, Gary Baker, Rob Leathers and Josh McCormick.
