

JoAnn was born on September 18, 1932 in Austin, Texas, the only child of Thelma and Clyde Jacobson, who precede her in death.
JoAnn enjoyed teaching Sunday School for many years. She never met a stranger and spoke with everyone she saw. She loved gardening and had a green thumb and could grow anything.
JoAnn’s career included being a Secretary at Robert Lee Junior High and Secretary for the AG department at Angelo State University. She also served as Secretary to the Chaplain at San Angelo State School. JoAnn owned and operated MeMe’s Treasures with her husband for many years.
JoAnn married her husband Jack Applewhite in 1956. They were married 46 years until his death in 2002.
JoAnn was also preceded in death by her oldest daughter Linda Pate, grandchildren Jason and Katie Payne, granddaughter Brandy Bristow and great grandson Corran Pate.
Survivors include daughters Karen Covey of Liberty Hill, Carol Lowry of Austin and Son in Law Dana Pate of Midland and brother in law Alex Applewhite of Hamilton. She leaves behind her grandchildren Jim (Ana) Pate of Sachse, Brian (Danis) Bristow of Round Rock, Joseph (Beverly) Pate of Lubbock, Terah (Gene) Selasie of Liberty Hill, Chris (Alexandria) Payne of Hutto, Kimberly (Casey) Lucas of Midland and Kevin (Kelly) Payne of Colorado Springs. Her Great Grandchildren include Shailey Covey of Austin, Alexis Covey of Georgetown, Brittany Payne of Round Rock, Brayden and Kiernan Parker of Liberty Hill, Peyton, Miles and Bowen Bristow of Round Rock, Landry and Lorelei Payne of Hutto and Brooklyn Lucas of Midland.
