

Mildred Thompson is finally at peace after passing away quietly on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014. She was born on May 22, 1927 to Floyd Alexander and Cornelia Eldora Payne in San Angelo, Texas. She married her childhood sweetheart, David Thompson, on Jan. 9, 1947. They were married for 58 wonderful years. Mildred will be remembered as a sweet and loving person who never really had an unkind word to say about anybody.She was also a very devoted wife and mother. She was employed with JC Penny for 15 years. She was devoted to family, whether it was her own or her husband's. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, two half-sisters, one half-brother, and a granddaughter, Carma Thompson. Survivors include her children, Kenneth Thompson and wife Marilyn of Abilene, Nelda Nelson of San Angelo, David Thompson of Abilene, and Janice Goodwin and husband Carl of San Angelo; 14 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.The family would like to thank The Springs, Hospice of San Angelo, and Sagecrest Alzheimer's Care Center, as well as Dr. Anderton and staff.Visitation is from 7 pm to 9 pm on Tuesday at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside service is at 1 pm Wednesday at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
