Nora McLaughlin Boswell

Nora McLaughlin Boswell passed away Tuesday February 12, 2013 at the age of 93. She was born February 10, 1920, in Rankin, Texas to William Ray McLaughlin and Velma Garner McLaughlin. Nora worked for San Angelo Clinic Hospital and its successor Angelo Community Hospital for over 20 years and retired as head of the Communications Department. The role she played working for the Hospital was one that she cherished. Nora lived in San Angelo for 87 years before moving to Plano, Texas to be near family. Her love of San Angelo never waned. Nora or Nodie, as many fondly referred of her, had a wonderful sense of humor and it remained with her even in her final days. Nora was fond of sketching as a hobby throughout her life and became an accomplished painter at the age of 91. Nora, a fiercely devoted mother and loving wife, was preceded in death by her husband Virgil (Bozzie) Boswell and her sister Ann McLaughlin Billings. She was also preceded in death by her loving friend and companion Dan Kidd. Nora is survived by sons Steve Boswell and wife Jean of Plano and David Boswell and wife Ann of Austin. Also surviving are granddaughters Sarah Council and husband Doug of Plano and Catherine Boswell of New York City and great grandson Mason Council of Plano. Additional survivors are Nora's brother Don McLaughlin of Dallas and her sister Gay McLaughlin Grauke and husband Clyde of Garland. She is also survived by nephews Travis Billings of Austin and Kevin Grauke of Philadelphia and nieces Lezlie Billings Bargsley of Johnson City, Texas and Heather Grauke Cannon of Salt Lake City, Utah. Family members will be receiving visitors from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 20th at Johnson's Funeral Home in San Angelo. I was so sorry to hear of Nora's passing. I knew her from Community, but really got to be friends when I took care of Dan Kidd. She always made me feel special. Her memory will be one that I will always cherish. She was a lovely lady.

Nora Ray was such a special person. I loved her quick-witted sense of humor. She was loyal and kind and so much fun to be around. My Mother loved getting birthday cards from her. Nora Ray was always very much loved by my family.
