Nadine Boatright Byrne, age 91, of San Angelo passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018. She was born January 14, 1927 in San Angelo the daughter of Levi and Eunice (Groves) Boatright. As a young person, she accepted Christ as her Savior and was baptized at Immanuel Baptist Church. She later graduated from San Angelo Senior High School. On September 22, 1946 she was married to Leon Byrne. They began their married life in Coke County where they farmed and ranched during the 1940’s and 1950’s. Later the family moved to San Angelo where Mrs. Byrne was employed at Pace Dry Goods store and then a the Tom Green County Library from which she later retired. After retirement, Nadine volunteered many years at Shannon and Community Hospitals
Nadine loved to play dominoes, cards and winning at bingo.
Mrs. Byrne was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and infant son, Bobby Bruce Byrne, a brother, Freeman Boatright of Eureka, California, and a sister, Christine Boatright Perrine of San Angelo. She is survived by her two sons and their wifes, Clyde and Andrea Byrne of New Brockton, Alabama, Jimmie and Patty Byrne of Robert Lee, two grandchildren, Doss Byrne of San Antonio and Sarah Altom and her fiancé Rick Batten of Weatherford, two great-grandchildren, Austin Byrne of Waco and Lauren Altom of Weatherford as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday, December 28, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Rev. Chris Walls, pastor of Robert Lee Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow under the direction of Johnson’s Funeral Home.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude to the staff of Lyndale, Robert Lee Care Center, and St. Gabriel’s Hospice for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Byrne. They ask that any memorials be made to St. Gabriel’s Hospice or to the charity of choice.
