

Oran passed away unexpectedly at his home in Barnhart on November 4, 2010. Services will be under the direction of Johnson's Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday November 6, 2010 with burial following at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Oran's pastor and friend Reverend Larry Young.
Oran was born to Olaf and Beleauh Mae Harkleroad on December 24, 1943 in Welling¬ton, Texas. Oran was raised in Cotton Center , Texas. He graduated from Cotton Center High School and attended Texas Tech where he met and married Jan Harkleroad and to¬gether they had three children.
Oran and Jan moved to Barnhart, Texas where they raised their family and Oran estab-lished his welding business. Oran loved and lived life to its fullest. His family, work, and friends were of extreme importance to him. He spent twenty-five years building gas
plants and repairing pipe lines all over West Texas. He took great pride in being a mentor
to many young men who have made their mark in the welding business.
Oran's greatest joy came from being "Pa Pa" to his granddaughters Kieryn Moffat and Addie Harkleroad. He made the comment so often that they were his reason for living. Oran was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Barnhart and Big Lake. Everyone looked forward to the hot rolls he baked for the Sunday socials. Oran was preceded in death by his parents, a brother E.W. Harkleroad, and a sister
Rebecca Kidd. He is survived by the mother of his children, Jan Harkleroad, a son
Dr. Zeke Harkleroad and wife Rebecca of Austin, a daughter Slade Moffat and husband Corn of San Angelo, a daughter Amber Harkleroad of San Angelo, and his two precious granddaughters Kieryn Moffat and Addie Harkleroad both of San Angelo. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law James Parry and wife Blossom of San Angelo, a sister-in-law Norma Parry and husband Doyle Miller of San Angelo, a sister-in-law Joy Hark-leroad of Seabrook, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Buck Owens, Bill Avery, Mike Elkins, James Furr, Steve Elkins, & Nick Lange. Honorary pallbearers will be Chuck Williams, Mitch Martin, David Collins, Jackie Don Sparks, and Rick Schwiening.
