

Oscar Lee Clark (O.L.) passed away Jan. 7th at home peacefully in his sleep. He’s now with Jesus and his family in Heaven. Our dad tried his darndest to live to be 100. A few days before his death he was asked if he was going to make it to 100 and he said “yes”.
O.L. was born Nov. 7th, 1920, in Bridgeport, TX. to Ollie C. and Mary Lela Clark. He moved to Slaton, TX. at a young age. He graduated from Slaton High School and then went to work for the Santa Fe Railroad. He worked just six months and then joined the Navy. He loved talking about his time in the Navy during WW II as a dryland sailor and going all over the South Pacific. After his service, he returned to work for the Santa Fe Railroad, then retired in 1982 after 41 years, in 1983, he purchased a landscaping business and pursued that until 1992.
O.L. and his wife Lemma were charter members of Southland Baptist Church and members of the Friendship Sunday School Class until 1992.
The past few years, he attended Paul Ann Baptist Church with his daughter and son.
Our dad was very active in the Suez Shrine, a Master Mason for more 65 years, a 33 degree Mason, Scottish Rite and Order of the Easter Star. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and most of all playing dominoes at Suez Temple with friends.
O. L. is preceded in death by a son, Gerald Lee, his parents, his brother Jack, son-in-law Jim Fetzner, sister-in-law, Joann and his wife Lemma. He is survived by his children, daughter, Susie Clark of San Diego, son, Larry (Susan) Clark and daughter, Linda Clark of San Angelo. His step children surviving him are Jim (Mitzi) Bryan, Beverly (Roger) Horton of Edmond Ok. His grandchildren, Jerald (Laura) Welch of Austin, Jay (Emily) Welch of Escondido CA, Justin (Scarlet) Lampier of San Angelo, Lacy Clark and Megan Clark of San Antonio. Step grandchildren, Mickey

Great grandchildren, Riley, Kate, Reagan Welch of Austin; Kyla, Rachel and Clinton of Escondido CA, Sutton Lampier of San Angelo; Sophia and Lilly Horton of Westin FL., Mia and Max Horton of Tulsa, OK. Sloan and Rollins Colbert of N.Y.N.Y. Bryson and Miranda Cobb, Trophy Club, TX and many nieces and nephews.
We would like to thank Kindred Hospice and Dr. Hutchinson along with the staff of Shannon 6th North who cared for our dad in his last days. We would also like to thank all of his doctors whom he thought so much of; Dr. Granaghan, Dr. Prieto, Dr. Bradley, Dr. Neil, Dr. Coates, Dr. Mull, Dr. Robert Alexander, Dr. Kasberg and his wound care nurses that spoiled him with juice and cookies. Also, a special thanks to Tonya Buckner and the V.A. staff who did so much for him. Thank you, Adriana Castillo, for taking good care of our dad at home and Jason Kennedy for your numerous visits.
Services will be held at 10 A.M. Friday, Jan 12th at Johnson’s Funeral Home with Kirt Dauphin officiating. Masonic and Military Service to follow immediately at LawnHaven Memorial Garden. A meal for family and friends will be held at the Suez Shrine Temple on Loop 306 immediately following. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Suez Shrine, Southland Baptist or PaulAnn Baptist Church.
