Oscar William Hinojosa

Oscar William Hinojosa, 76, of San Angelo, TX passed away Thursday, October 22, 2020. He was born on November 14, 1943, in Mercedes, TX to Guadalupe Y. Hinojosa and Manuela G. Zamora. Oscar attended Edinburgh High School and graduated in the class of 1961. He later went on to enlist in the United States Navy for a year and then the United States Air Force until 1966. Oscar began working as an Air Traffic Controller in 1976 and retired in 2008 after 32 years of service. Oscar married Yzelda (Sam) Villarreal on August 23, 1975, and had 3 children. Oscar was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and had a passion for the church. Oscar will be remembered for his participation in the Holy Angels Sausage Committee, Holy Angels Festival Committee, and his membership of the Knight of Columbus 4th Degree. He was preceded in death by Guadalupe Y. Hinojosa (father), Manuela G. Hinojosa (mother), Moraima A. Adame (sister), Javier Hinojosa (brother), and Melissa D. Hinojosa (daughter). Oscar is survived by his wife Yzelda V. Hinojosa, son William D. (WD) Hinojosa (Jessica P. Hinojosa), daughter Bianca D. Boadway (Travis Boadway), and 4 grandchildren (Eden Rae Hinojosa, Luna Elisa Hinojosa, Jackson William Hinojosa, and Colt Ryan Boadway). He is also survived by a sister, two brothers, and many nieces and nephews. A private Rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 28th, 2020 at Johnson Funeral Home with a live stream available through the funeral home website for friends and family who are unable to attend. In lieu of flowers, the Hinojosa family asks that you make a memorial donation in Oscar's name to the American Cancer Society. The family would like to thank the ICU and ER staff at Shannon Medical Center and friends for all their prayers and support during this time.
