Ramiro G. Cerda Sr. beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and such a great man with a beautiful soul went to be with the Lord at the age of 91 on Saturday 26th 2022. Ramiro was born November 22, 1930 in Rio Bravo Coahuila, Mexico to Julian H. Cerda and Carolina G. Cerda. Ramiro married his love of his life Frances in April 1952 and had 5 children.
At a young age his father passed away leaving him to help his mother raise 4 young siblings. He was a devout Catholic all his life. He was a proud member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in the early 1950’s & 60’s and his remaining years as a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in San Angelo, Texas. Ramiro served in many ministries as an Eucharist Minister of Holy Communion, Lector, Usher, and a member of the Spanish Church choir. He enjoyed hosting Bible studies with his wife in their home being great RCIA teachers, as well as deepening his spiritual life through the many gifts of prayer and sacrifices in the name of Christ by completing his Cursillo to become a Cursillista.
Prior to his marriage, he was a man of many trades. Seeking a better life he came to the USA as a 16 year old by himself and performed several jobs one of many included working on a ranch clearing land of mesquite and cactus, a dishwasher position at Original Fuentes Café on Ave K, then signing on with the Santa Fe Railroad company as a trackman where he spent 31 years until his retirement in 1991.
After 91 years of full life, he had a passion for God, his family and friends. We will always remember his great faith in God, family values, his personality and his stories he shared with many. A beautiful life that came to an end, He died as he lived, everyone’s friend. In our hearts a memory will always be kept, of one we loved and will never forget.
