Robert was born on June 5, 1944, in San Angelo, to Frank and Lula Belle (Fairchild) Price. After living in London, Texas, for five years, they moved back to San Angelo and he attended Day Elementary, Lincoln Junior High and Lake View High School, where he graduated as Most Likely to Succeed. He attended Angelo State University earning a Bachelor of Science, Texas A&M earning a Master of Education and earning a third degree in education administration from Angelo State. He married the love of his life, Cherylene Pate, on Dec. 21, 1966, in San Angelo and never spent more than a night away from her for the next 46 years. He had an amazing love for teaching and instilled that in the thousands of students that he taught in his 43 years at Central. He had a passion for pep rallies and his students and fellow teachers loved to see his signs and the angry orange Bobcat flag at football games. He touched many lives with his generosity, kindness and knowledge. He made his students laugh during "It" week and the "Billion Pennies" lecture, work during the lab practical and the bug collection, cry during psychology week and think about their impact on the world when he destroyed his room for Earth week. In his final goodbye letter to his students, he said, "The greatest and most important lesson of all I tried to teach you is, to remember this one great truth of your life: I believe that somehow, somewhere, someday, you really will make a difference in this world. Goodbye, and have a wonderful life." Pallbearers will be Tommy Walters, Kye Miller, Gary Smith, Mike Caraway, Bill Holubec and Kater King. He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Frankie Williams; and one brother, William Price. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Cherylene Price of San Angelo; two daughters, Shellane King and Todd Nolan of Midland and Robin Langfeld and husband Troy of D'Hanis; a son, Robert Sterling Price Jr. and wife Jenni of San Angelo; a sister, Dicksey Montoya of Crane; six grandchildren, Kater and Kanada King of Midland, Bryn and Briley Langfeld of D'Hanis and Julianna and William Price of San Angelo; numerous other relatives; hundreds of coworkers; and thousands of students that he taught at Central High School. In lieu of flowers; in Robert's memory register with Be the Match or donate to Autism Speaks. Robert's obituary and memorial guestbook may be viewed online at robertmassie.com.
