Ronald “Ronnie” (PeePaw) Gene Baggett, 78 years, peacefully went to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday; July 30, 2023. He was born on June 5, 1945 in San Angelo, TX to Wilton and Billie Baggett.
He was blessed to have two great loves in his life, Gloria “Iya” Baggett from 1997 to present and Patricia “Nannie” Baggett who went to be with our Lord and Savior in 1995. Ronnie is survived by his sons and their wives: Lannie Baggett (Cathy), Kelly Baggett (Kelly Denise), Kenny Baggett (Becky), and step-son Mark Matschek (Lisa). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren: Jenny Cornett (Stewart), Sara Malloy (Chris), Brittaney McCain (Landon), Zack Ewing (Lydiah), Bryson Baggett, McKenna Baggett, Brooke Long (Aaron), Mason Baggett (Carrissa), Paige Baggett, Macahl Matschek, Lauryn Kingma (Josh), and BJ Avila (Yovanie). He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren: Ty, Charlee, and Casey Cornett; Foster Malloy; Wyatt and Payton McCain; Maddox Mitchell; Elizabeth and Nathaniel Long; Carter Baggett and baby sister due Jan. 2024, and Lainey Kingma. Tom O’Neal, his brother-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ronnie retired from John L. Cox after 35 years of service as an oilfield mechanic. He was an active member of Bethel Baptist in Big Lake, TX. His greatest legacy is his love for the Lord, and he set the foundation for generations of his family. He exemplified his faith to others through his actions. He loved being outside whether it be gardening, camping, fishing, or golfing, but most of all he enjoyed these activities because he shared them with people he loved.
Ronnie was preceded in death by Patricia Baggett (his first wife), his parents Wilton and Billie Baggett, all his siblings: Stanley (PeeWee) Baggett, Jamie Baggett, Penny Baggett, Becky Baggett, and Terry Baggett.
Pallbearers for the service will be his grandsons: Mason Baggett, Bryson Baggett, Zack Ewing, Stewart Cornett, Ty Cornett, Landon McCain, Chris Malloy, Aaron Long, and BJ Avila.
The viewing will be held at Johnson’s Funeral Home in San Angelo, TX on Wednesday; August 2, 2023 from 5-7pm.
The Celebration of Life will be at Bethel Baptist in Big Lake, TX on Thursday; August 3, 2023 at 11 am, graveside service to follow.
