

Ruby Jennings passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 15, 2012, in Meadow Creek Nursing Home. She was 89 years of age. Visitation is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside service is at 2 p.m. Friday, May 18, in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Tommy King officiating. Ruby was born Oct. 23, 1922, in Voca, Texas, to Fannie and Jot Deans. She moved to San Angelo in 1937. She married Wesley Jennings on May 3, 1942. She worked for Sears for a few years, then took a secretarial position at First National Bank for 25 years. She retired for a while, then decided to work for Christian Village for five years. Ruby and Wesley loved to travel in their RV. She was a longtime member of Johnson Street Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her sister, Mae Morrow; her brother, Carl Deans; and her parents. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, Wesley Jennings; her daughter, Carlene Grimes and husband Steve Grimes; her brother, J.B. Deans Jr. and wife Lawanda; two grandsons, Coy Baldwin and wife Regina of San Angelo and Brad Baldwin and wife Amy of Cleveland, Ohio; great-grandchildren Lindsay Oakley, Sara Baldwin, Anna Baldwin, Grace Baldwin and Benjamin Baldwin; and one great-grandchild, Vada Oakley. Honorary pallbearers will be Don Foster, Al Green, Kenneth Hemphill, Bruce Van Cleve, Allen Price and Bryan Mahon. A special thanks to Hospice and all her friends and the staff at Meadow Creek Nursing Home for their good care.
