

Rudolph Hunter “Rudy” Winchester passed into the presence of the Lord on March 25, 2012 at his home in Early, TX surrounded by his family. He was 83 years old. He was born February 14, 1929, in Denison, TX, to Lewis and Jewel Winchester and married Dolores “Jane” Taylor on March 7, 1948. Rudy worked for the US Postal Service for 29 years in Big Lake, TX. He is survived by his wife, Jane, his daughters, Vikki Cox of Early, TX, and Kathy Halley and husband Dewayne of Tampa, Florida, and his daughter-in-law Debra Winchester of Waco, TX. Rudy has seven grandchildren, Bryan and wife Kate of Woodstock, GA, Tammi Cox Ledbetter and husband James of Early, TX, Alicia Halley Taylor and husband Tim of Tampa, FL, Eric Cox and wife Jennifer of Benbrook, TX, Jessica Halley of Land o’ Lakes, FL, Randy Winchester of Waco, TX, and Amanda Winchester of Waco, TX. He has also been blessed with ten great-grandchildren: Halley, Matthew and Scott Taylor, Emma Halley, Nolan and Stewart Cox, Hayden and Ethan Winchester, and J.W. and Ella Ledbetter. He was preceded in death by his son Ric Winchester and son-in-law Paul Cox. In life Rudy was active in Big Lake Masonic Lodge #1203 in Big Lake, TX and was an avid golfer. Rudy and Jane were active members of First Methodist Church in Big Lake. Rudy was also active in supporting and coaching Little League Baseball for many years. The family requests donations be made to a charity of your choice. Family and friends will celebrate Rudy’s life in a graveside service on Wednesday, March 28, at 1:30 at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake, TX.
