

Ruth Earline Coleman Ganus, 101, of San Angelo, Texas passed away in Corpus Christi on March 29, 2017. She was born in Lubbock, Texas on September 19, 1915 to Sam and Linnie Coleman and raised on a cotton farm. The Coleman family moved to Slaton, Texas so that their four children could attend high school. Ruth was valedictorian of her class when she graduated from Slaton High School. She started teaching English even before she received her BS and Masters in Education from Texas Tech in Lubbock. Ruth taught school for 32 years in several school districts. She was married to Jesse D. Ganus on October 14, 1936. Their only child, Glenda, was born in 1939. They were married 61 years. She was a member of TSTA, Senior Bowling League and had a passion for worshiping God, sewing, golf, bowling, friendships and teaching. She was a long-time member of the Johnson Street Church of Christ. She is survived by her daughter, Glenda Rhodes of Corpus Christi, TX; granddaughters, Jennifer Hollingsworth and husband Tom of Corpus Christi, TX and Jana Robertson and husband Steve of Keller, TX; and great grandchildren, Brent, Morgan and Mariah Hollingsworth of Corpus Christi, TX and Mary and Peter Robertson of Keller, Texas. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 3, 2017 in the chapel of Johnson’s Funeral Home with burial to follow in Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
