Sondra Jeannette Floyd Piel, born October 10, 1934, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas. A woman of quiet strength, Sondra lived a life enriched by the simple joys that brought her comfort and connection.
Sondra was a voracious reader who could lose herself in a book for hours. She loved board games, card games, and word games of every kind—anything that challenged the mind and brought people together. She had a way of making every family gathering feel warm, lively, and full of good humor.
Sondra expressed her creativity through crafting and artwork. She delighted in working with her hands, creating thoughtful and beautiful projects that reflected her imagination. Whether making something for herself or as a gift for someone she loved, her creativity was another way she expressed warmth and connection, leaving behind tangible reminders of her thoughtful spirit.
On February 16, 1974, Sondra married the love of her life, Calvin “Cal” David Lester Piel. Their marriage was a partnership built on devotion, companionship, and a shared appreciation for the small pleasures of everyday life. Cal preceded her in death, and the thought of them reunited brings comfort to those who loved them both.
Though Sondra had no children, she poured her affection into her extended family and friends, offering support and kindness without hesitation. Sondra is preceded in death by her parents, James Oscar Floyd and Elsie May Floyd. Sondra is survived by her nieces Patricia Clark (San Angelo) and Lou Alexander (Brady), her nephews Billy and Nettie Cavin (San Angelo) and Jimmy Floyd (Abilene), and her best friend Marty Berger (San Angelo).
Open visitation for Sondra will be held throughout the day on Monday, April 6, 2026 at Johnson's Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at 2PM on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 at Johnson's Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
May her memory be a blessing knowing that she is rejoicing in heaven alongside Cal with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
