Sue Cargal Waggoner left this earth for her greatest journey yet on Monday, May 9, 2022. She was born Wilma Joyce Cargal on Jan 24, 1933 in Blair, OK to Gus and Grace Cargal. She was the youngest of 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Needless to say, she was a bit spoiled, but after marrying Milfred Waggoner on June 20, 1953, traveling 5 states with his oil industry career, and having 3 children of her own, she grew out of it quickly!
Sue and Milfred had a passion for the Lord worshiping at Southgate Church of Christ after they retired here around 2004. They would do anything for their three children and at a moment’s notice, would come paint, clean, plant, mow, babysit grandchildren, and even care for them when sick.
They were very frugal in the early years which allowed them to travel wherever and whenever in their fifth wheel, which was their third passion. She loved meeting up with friends and family. Living in so many places, they had friends everywhere and kept up with them religiously.
Sue was a wonderful mother, the disciplinarian, the cook, the housekeeper, the drape maker, the lawnmower/washer repair person, the wall painter, the money manager and got really good at buying and selling houses! She loved a good joke, and her wit and humor continued even as her dementia was taking hold. She was a loving and affectionate person, but she was talented at speaking her mind in a very respectful manner. You didn’t have to agree with her for her to still love you! She taught her daughters to be independent and able to stand on their own feet and own power… trusting that God will see them through.
Sue is survived by her daughter Phyllis Van Court, husband Johnny, and granddaughter Lacy Van Court and husband Colby Mischefsky. Her son Paul Waggoner, daughter Lauren Shoemaker, husband Jarett, and great grandchildren Addison and Landon. Her late daughter’s children Josh Birmingham, Bryan Birmingham, wife Courtney, and great grandchildren Brennan and Brylee.
She was preceded in death by all brothers and sisters, her husband Milfred and her oldest daughter Pam Parkinson.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 12th at Johnson’s Funeral Home from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. with graveside on Friday, May 13th at 10:00 a.m at Lawnhaven, Brother Paul Shero officiating. Our mom would find it quite humorous that she was laid to rest on Friday the 13th.
Appreciation goes to the staffs of Brayden Park and Kindred Hospice for being so kind to our mom.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.johnsons-funeralhome.com for the Waggoner family.
