Thelma Palmer Ball

She was born on February 25, 1942 to Jim and Josephine Palmer. Thelma attended San Angelo High School before beginning her career as a bookkeeper. She worked for Bill Henry Trucking and later Tom Thorp Trucking. Later, she began at Eugene Ball Painting, where she remained employed until her passing. Thelma married Eugene Ball on April 13, 1968 and had three children. She was a proud member of Lake View Baptist, later attending Calvary Baptist. Thelma had a passion for photography, singing, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will always be remembered for the immense love she had for her family and friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Josephine Palmer; and brothers, Bill Henry and Sam Wallis.

She is survived by her husband, Eugene Ball; sister, Shirley Jones; children, Donna Powell (Chris), Tess Denton, and Walter “Bubba” Stevens (Anne); grandchildren, Robert Powell (Hellen), Brandie Brown (George), Ashlee Marrero (Charlie), Benji Denton (Laurie), Grant Stevens (Jessica), Andrew Stevens (Alison), and Hayden Stevens; great-grandchildren, Caleb Powell, Sarah Powell; Gabe Marrero, Aurelia Marrero, Eva Denton, Laina Denton, Ivy Denton, Gracelyn Stevens, Gunnison Stevens, Georganna Stevens, Griffen Stevens, Wesley Brown, Hudson Brown, Elliot Brown, Palmer Brown, and Wallace Brown. Thelma is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 from 6-8 PM at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 2 PM in the Johnson’s Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a memorial donation to West Texas Rehab or the West Texas Boys Ranch in Thelma’s name. The family would also like to thank the ICU nurses at Shannon Medical Center for their care.
