Tom Hopkins passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 11th, 2018, surrounded by his loved ones. A man of many talents, Tom was a beloved Father as well as Grandfather, doting Husband, Air Force Veteran, Eagle Scout and Educator. Married to Annette Hopkins in 1953, with 63 years of adventure and raising their only child together, Mary Ann Hopkins, he got to have it all. Tom was a highly decorated Major of the United States Army Air Corp (Later becoming what we know today as the United States Air Force), and a proud pilot who was fortunate to see the world. After more than 20 years outstanding service to his country, Tom continued giving back in the form of being a Biology teacher, educating students for yet another 20 years at Lincoln Junior High in the San Angelo Community. He is survived by his family, Mary Ann, Laura and Allison. Truly known for his kind and generous nature, he will be missed. A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, March 16th, 2018 at Johnson's Funeral Home 435 W Beauregard Ave, San Angelo, TX 76903 to begin at 6 in the evening. In lieu of flowers, we are asking for donations to Hospice of San Angelo, who provided amazing comfort, care and support in his time of need. Alternatively, donations to Meals for the elderly, a wonderful service who also provided additional support, and are a much needed service to the San Angelo community, would be welcome.

Condolences to you all. Such a great pic of Mr. Hopkins, just as I remembered him in late 80's when he was my science teacher. He made it fun to learn and never took himself too seriously. Like many others have said, he was kind, funny and one of my favorite teachers. He will be remembered by many.

I, along with many others, was blessed to have Mr. Hopkins for a science teacher at Lincoln Jr. High many many years ago. He was kind and thoughtful. He reminded me of my own Pa.
I remember him putting his hands behind his ears to listen to the intercom at the school.
Such an amazing generation of men and women we are losing on this Earth.... Full of knowledge and wisdom. I'm thankful to have known him.
Sending love to his family 💗
