Born on September 11th, 1943 in San Angelo, Texas to William Dewey and Mary Louise Markum, Vicki grew up in San Angelo, graduating from San Angelo Central High School in 1961. Vicki married her first husband, Trygve Anderson, in November of 1964. The couple soon moved with the military to an Air Force base in Japan where their daughter Kristen was born. When they relocated to the States, they moved to the Dallas area where their son Jon was born. Raising her children was the focus and joy of Vicki's life. Although their marriage came to an end, Vicki and Tryg remained friends for the rest of her life.
Vicki married her loving husband, Don Stewart, in 1992. The couple traveled frequently in their 31 years together, both in the United States and abroad. In reflecting on their life, Don said, "We had a fine marriage - we never let the grass grow under our feet, and we always did what we wanted to do together." They lived all over Texas, from San Angelo, to the Dallas area, to Horseshoe Bay, to Georgetown—moving most recently to Austin, to be close to the light of Vicki's life, her only grandson, Sullivan Anderson. She was the proudest and most loving Grandmama anyone could wish for.
Vicki was known for her love of the dachshunds of her life: Gina, Camille and Ashley. Ashley was at her side when she passed away, devoted to the end.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Don Stewart, her daughter, Kristen Anderson, her son, Jon Anderson and his wife Christy Seals, and their son, her cherished grandson, Sullivan Anderson, as well as Don's children: Gregg Stewart and his wife Pam of Frisco, Sandy Stewart and her husband Duncan of Fort Davis, and Brad Stewart and his wife Brenda of Ardmore, Oklahoma.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 17th, 2023 at 10:00 am at Johnson's Funeral Home, 435 W. Beauregard Ave, San Angelo, TX 76903.
