Mrs. Virginia Black Epps was born on May 17, 1941 in Lockhart, Texas, the youngest child of Mr. Howard Allen Black, Sr. and Mrs. Mary Francis Black. She was the 19th born, 20 children raised in love with a nephew. Her parents & 18 siblings preceded her in death.
Virginia Accepted Christ at an early age and aligned herself with Baptist faith. Virginia was an active member of Galilee Missionary Baptist under the leadership of Minister John S. Pope, Jr. Virginia operated the church kitchen & pantry, and was a member of the choir.
On February 26, 1965, Virginia joined in holy matrimony with Artie Charles Edmond. Two children were raised in this union: La Shauna and Ashley. Artie preceded her in death. Virginia loved God. Mom made sure you knew “God is love”. A favored aunt, she mothered us all. Virginia was very avid in her travels. She made sure to stop and visit her family along the way. She was detailed in her designs, and was passed down generations of culinary delight. Growing up on her parent’s massive farm, she carried that work ethic into an adventurous career path. Working for KCTV, Levi’s Strauss, and later retiring from Ethicon & Bethpage Mission South. Through life and work, she enjoyed the company of many great friends.
After retiring, Virginia united in holy matrimony with George E. Epps, Sr. on December 15, 2001. Together they shared their love in the auxiliaries of their church. They enjoyed & explored many road trips, leading them coast to coast. Of course, stopping along the way to visit family and loved ones. George preceded her in death.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memories: her brother Milton “Uncle B” Black, of Odessa, TX, daughters La Shauna Cummings, of Euless, TX, and Mrs. Ashley St. Romain, husband Nick. “Granny V’s” Grandchildren Zamauryon Kendricks and Zamora Laws. Virginia leaves to cherish an abundant host of nieces, nephews, & cousins; all of whom she cherished and adored, family, friends,
and a generous church family.
