

William B. “Tex” Bloys Sr., 90 years young, passed away on 6 May 2011, at the Veterans Home in Big Spring TX. He was born in Dallas, on 4 October 1920, to James and Florence Bloys. Tex was a decorated Army veteran who served our nation in Patton’s 3d Army during World War II, endured the Battle of the Bulge, and answered the call once more during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded two Bronze Star Medals for valor and received two Purple Heart Medals for wounds received in battle. After retiring from his military career he resided in El Paso then moved to Fort Davis, then spent the remainder of his years in Brady and Rochelle. He was a Real Estate broker and general contractor, applying due diligence to these fields for over 50 years.
He is survived by his bride of 48 years, Verda Raye Bloys of Rochelle; and his children: Lee Allen Bloys, and Lonnie Lee Bloys of Rochelle; William B. “Tex” Bloys Jr. of Dripping Springs; Mark Alan Copeland of Brady; and daughter Shari Rae and husband Robert D. Wicks of San Angelo. He has 12 grandchildren, and two great-grand children.
He is preceded in death by his mother and father, his sister Beverly Deason, and three of his children, Bobbie Ann, James William, and Shayne Montgomery Bloys.
Tex will be interred in the Texas State Veteran’s Cemetery, in Abilene, at 2:00 P.M., on 11 May 2011. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be sent to the USO at https://www.uso.org/donate/ in honor of those who have served.
