

SAN ANGELO William Jackson (Jack) Compere, 71, passed away Tuesday in San Angelo. Jack was born April 12, 1943, in Mammoth Springs, Arkansas, to James Seth and Flora Evelyn Bush Compere. He worked for the West Texas Lighthouse for the Blind and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. In Jack's family, there were three generations of Compere's who were Baptist ministers in Arkansas and Missouri. Jack was a kind, gentle and patient man and always had a smile for everyone. He was an amazing man of God and lived to serve God and others. He is rejoicing in Heaven today and can now see. Jack was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Amy Sue Compere and Flora Evelyn Compere; and his brother, James Seth Compere III. He is survived by his nieces, Robin Reed and husband Howard of San Angelo, Shanna Compere Gibbons and husband Bryan and Carol Linda Humbert and husband Todd, all of Amarillo. Visitation was held Thursday at Johnson's Funeral Home. Service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, 2014, in Johnson's Funeral Home chapel with burial to follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Park.
