Wynona Elizabeth Walls passed peacefully from this life to the arms of her Savior on Monday, June 20, 2011. She was born November 10, 1928 in Bearden, Oklahoma, and proudly received by heritage, her Cherokee Indian name, Wynona, translated “Bluebird.” As a small child she moved to Harlingen, Texas with her family. There she later met and married the only love of her life, William Thomas Walls, on May 27, 1947. They immediately moved to Corpus Christi, Texas where they made their lifelong home. Bill preceded her to Heaven on April 7, 2002 and the “old carpenter” surely laid the blueprints and told the angels exactly how to build her eternal home. Wynona is survived by her only son, Jerry Walls and wife, Debbie, of San Angelo, Texas.
Wynona’s family would like to express our appreciation to the loving and caring staff of Park Plaza Nursing & Rehabilitation for the compassionate and proficient care given to her for the last nine years. Also to Hospice of San Angelo for the overwhelming respect and comfort afforded to Wynona and her loved ones in her final days.
A final celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 11:00am at the Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetary, Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas, officiated by Mr. Charles “Mickey” Harr.
Local Arrangements were by Johnson’s Funeral Home.
