Abe served diligently in numerous civic organizations in Houston as President plus he was the first Mexican-American on the Board of Trustees of the United Way of Houston/Galveston. He also served as National Vice-President for the Southwest of L.U.L.A.C. In Houston, he served ten years as a judge of the Municipal Court and was Assistant Chief Deputy in the office of the District Clerk before moving to San Antonio. In San Antonio, he had served in the Municipal Court over 6 years before he retired. Among his endeavors he was part of the team from LULAC Council #60 in Houston which went to Washington, D.C. and was able to get funds for the “School of the 400” which later became the Headstart Program. Mrs Ramirez and Sandra,

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Mr. Ramirez. He was a dignified man that I admired very much. He always treated people with respect including us kids and I appreciated that. I learned a lot from him. He will truly be missed. You all are in our prayers and thoughts during this difficult time.

It was such a pleasure and honor to meet Abe in California when he reunited for the first time with his childhood friend, my father, Hector Quijas. Abe was a very impressive man who lived a full and successful life. We send heartfelt condolences to his amazing wife Cecila and family and we celebrate his life,

I was a Magistrate Court Assistant who helped "train" Judge Ramirez when he began his stint as a San Antonio Magistrate Court Judge. He was one of the kindest, fair and impartial Judges I ever worked with. I still treasure a pen he handed out to we clerks. I am sure he has taken St. Peter aside to give him some sage advice. May God rest his soul.
