Adam Alexander McNitzky, Jr., 82, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at The Village Retirement Community of Incarnate Word in San Antonio, Texas. A celebration of Adam's life will be held at St. Luke's United Methodist Church of Corpus Christi, Texas, on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 1:00 pm; Rev. Darlene Boaz officiating.
Adam was born in Denton, Texas to Adam Alexander and MaeDelle Milligan McNitzky on January 11, 1931. He & Myra Lee Peters McNitzky married in Biloxi, Mississippi on March 6, 1950. After graduating from the University of Texas Medical School in Galveston in 1955, Adam served as a Naval officer and physician in California, Taiwan, and Florida. Upon his retirement from the Navy in 1964, he established a private OB-GYN practice in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Following his retirement from private practice in 1993, Adam continued utilizing his medical expertise and human relation skills as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Spohn Hospital. He remained in this capacity for 5 years before leaving this administrative position in 1998. Adam's passion for his profession was evident as a physician, administrator, and colleague, having also served as a past President of the Nueces County Medical Society.
Adam was preceded in death by his wife, Myra, and his son, Michael Ray McNitzky.
He is survived by his children, Judy Hamrick and husband Slugger of Cameron; David McNitzky and wife Pam of San Antonio; Lori Harvey and husband Larry of Friendswood; and Richard McNitzky and wife Monica of San Antonio. He was also "Pop" to eight grandsons, 2 granddaughters, & 1 great-grandson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church,3151 Reid Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78404, where as members for many years, Adam and Myra established life-long friendships.
