Adela Alaquinez

Adela H. Alaquinez of Poteet, Texas, born on May 27, 1947, gained her wings on August 7th, 2020, at the age of 73. Born to Ascencion Sr. and Petra P. Herrera in San Antonio, Texas. Preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Eva Herrera, Margarita H. Lopez, Josie H. Valdez, Rose H. Sifuentes, Diana H. Figueroa and Lupe Herrera; and brothers: Miguel Herrera, Ascencion “Jr.” Herrera, and Joe P. Herrera.

Adela is survived by her husband of 59 years, Mariano Alaquinez; daughters: Marta Alonzo (husband, Eddie) and Dolores Madrigal. Surviving grandchildren are Raul Tarango and Janice Tarango; Chris Tarango and Yuko Yoshikane; Jaclyn Tarango and Mike Chavera; Adelita Madrigal, Joe Brian Madrigal, Marissa Martinez, Desmond Martinez, and Evan Garcia. Surviving great grandchildren, Caleb Tarango, Chloe Tarango and JakeAustin Chavera. She is also survived by her sister; Beatrice H. Martinez and many nieces and nephews, friends and family.

Although Adela officially retired from 35 years of teaching and driving a HUGE bus filled with kids of all ages in Somerset, Morton, Levelland and Poteet, Texas in 2012, she continued to be called upon as a substitute teacher, due to her passion and skill of educating and teaching others; especially children with special needs. If that wasn’t enough, Adela strived to complete her education with a degree in Early Childhood Education at Coastal Bend College, Beeville, Texas. Adela loved antiques, garage and estate sales, fishing, the beach and sewing. Last but not least, Adela’s pride and joy are her family and being around them; sharing a cup of coffee and the most precious gift, time.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Funeria Del Angels Trevino Funeral Home located at 2525 Palo Alto Rd., San Antonio, TX 78211 on Monday, August 24, 2020 5pm to 9pm. Rosary Prayer Service at 7pm.

On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, there will be visitation 8:30am to 10:30am only. Procession with police escort will leave the funeral home at 10:30am to First Memorial Park Cemetery 20567 Hwy. 16 South, Von Ormy, TX 78073 at 11am for graveside services.
