

Dr. Adele B. Campos was born in Mabini, Pangasinan, Philippines on July 3, 1922. She graduated with a diploma in 1946 from the Baguio General Hospital School of Nursing and the North General Hospital School of Nursing. She came to the US to pursue a post-graduate course in Obstetric and Gynecologic Nursing at Cornel University-New York Hospital School of Nursing and obtained a Certificate in Nursing Supervision and Teaching in Pediatric nursing from the University of Washington.
In 1950, she came back to the Philippines and completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. In 1955, she received her Master of Arts degree with a major in Nursing Education Administration from New York University. She completed her Doctorate degree from the University of Chicago. She was a member of the National Honor Society in Nursing Sigma Theta Tau International and Pi Lambda Theta.
Dr. Campos has served in different capacities in both nursing service and nursing education in American and Philippine hospitals and educational institutions – as head nurse, nurse supervisor, chief nurse, director of nursing, faculty member, and dean. She was a professor at the University of Cincinnati prior to her retirement.
Dr. Campos was a board member of the Philippine Nurses Association in Manila. She founded the Philippine Nurses Association of Chicago in 1957 and had been the adviser of the Philippine Nurses Association of San Antonio since 1989.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road San Antonio, Texas 78238 from 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. Friday, February 3, 2017 at St. Luke Catholic Church, 4603 Manitou Drive San Antonio, Texas 78228 with interment to follow at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery.
