Our beloved Adelina “Addy” Gonzalez took her last peaceful breath on September 8, 2021, with family by her side. Addy served her Lord as an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Selma for several years.
Addy was born on June 28, 1942, to Juan Melendez and Josefina Silva in Clint, Texas. She was raised in Arizona with her brothers and her sister. She graduated from Glendale High School in Glendale, Arizona. After graduating high school, she met and married the love of her life, Hector Gonzalez Jr., who, at the time, was stationed at Luke AFB. After getting married they were stationed at various bases around the world until her husband's retirement in 1980. After his retirement, Addy and her family settled in Rios, Texas where they started their own company, Double H land services. Addy and her husband successfully ran the company for over 30 years. After her husband’s death in 2013, Addy moved to Cibolo, Texas to be near her son and grandchildren.
Addy loved life, loved her friends, and loved her family even more, especially her grandchildren, Hector IV and Leah. She loved music, dancing, zumba and traveling. She was also an awesome cook who was always willing to share a meal with anyone. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her son, Hector Gonzalez III, two grandchildren (Hector Gonzalez IV and Leah M. Gonzalez), sisters-in-law Irma Hinojosa of Edinburg, Texas, Leila Pruneda and her husband, Ernest Pruneda of McAllen, Texas along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hector Gonzalez Jr, parents Juan Melendez and Josefina Silva and siblings Pedro, Abel and Rosa Melendez of Glendale, Arizona.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, September 24, 2021, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help beginning at 10:00 A.M.
