

Adolfo Aguilar, Sr., who shared his love and respect with everyone he touched in his 91 years peacefully entered the kingdom of God on May 12, 2023, joining his beautiful wife, Gloria. He epitomized the meaning of being a good man, always giving and supportive of his family, friends, co-workers and even strangers he met. From a young age, Adolfo demonstrated his intelligence and great spirit, having participated in the Math Club, Spelling Club, football, track, and volleyball teams, while attending and graduating from Poteet High School in 1949. After his military service in the U.S. Army and being stationed in Germany, he returned to San Antonio and entered the U.S. Postal Service where he enjoyed a 36-year distinguished career before his retirement. He was married to Gloria Leal Aguilar and had three children, Adolfo Aguilar, Jr., Arlene Aguilar and Evelynn Aguilar Bailey. He was the son of Manuel and Asela Aguilar and was the last surviving sibling among ten brothers and sisters, Tomas Aguilar, Sr., Guadalupe Lopez, Maria Sanchez, Lucio Aguilar, Sr., Maria Luisa Aguilar, Manuel Aguilar, Jr., Asela Chavez, Ernesto Aguilar, Sr., Margarita Rivas. He is survived by his three children Adolfo Jr., spouse Gisela Girard, Arlene his devoted caregiver, Evelynn, spouse David Bailey, grandchildren Michael and Gracie Martinez, Marcus and Erin Martinez, Carly Bailey, great grandchildren Isaiah, Brooklyn, Noah, Sofia and Dahlia Martinez, and numerous loving
nieces and nephews. His kindness, good humor and love of classic country music lives on with his familia Aguilar singing in praise to the beautiful man who taught us the way of life with dignity, respect and caring for others. We love you Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa and Tio Adolfo.
The visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM. A Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors.
