Adriana was born on December 24, 1982 in the Tigua Regional Hospital in El Paso, TX. She grew up in a loving family and was one of four siblings. She was raised in Dallas and Fort Stockton, TX. She graduated from F.S.H.S. in 2001 and was a participant in U.I.L., a member of The National Honor Society, debate team, one-act play and the student council. In college, she excelled in the sciences and on May 11, 2007 she received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Sociology with a Minor in Psychology specializing in Women’s and Children’s Studies from Texas A&M University.
Shortly after graduation, Adriana relocated to Midland, TX, where she had accepted a position with Texas Child Protective Services. She would later transfer to San Antonio to work with the adoption division of Child Protective Services. She was employed by the State of Texas for 8 years.
Adriana was a driven professional with a love for novels, traveling and helping children. When diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2010 and again more recently with Colorectal Cancer, she remained dedicated in her work and in her will to fight her illness. She remained a brave, iron-willed woman, even throughout her final months.
Adriana is survived by her parents, Juan and Leticia Gonzales; brother, Christopher and his wife Teresa; brother, John Rey and his wife Valerie; sister, Celina; and beloved nephews Bryan, Christian, Andrew and Marcos.
The family would especially like to thank Emmalind Aponte M.D., for her excellent work and loving care; the staff of the Methodist Hospital for their constant, attentive treatment; and Sunset North Funeral Home, for making the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Dare to Love, a non-profit organization with a mission to enrich the lives of abused and neglected children referred to Child Protective Services.
