Agnes G. Ligda

Agnes G. Ligda, 96, passed away on January 13, 2013 at Emeritus Assisted Living in San Antonio. She was born in Hartford, Wisconsin on February 25, 1916. Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Anna (Grota) Markowski; husband, Andrew V. Ligda; daughter-in-law, Pam Ligda and granddaughter, Beaumont P. D. Officer Lisa Beaulieu. Agnes’ memory will live on by her children Andrew L. Ligda of Rockport, Texas, Dennis Ligda of Cleburne, Texas and Anita and Bob Bleeker of Canyon Lake, Texas. There are also 3 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

After enduring the constant travel of being an Army housewife, her greatest joy was retirement with her husband to McAllen, Texas where she designed and oversaw the building of their house of 30 years. She kept active with her daily fast walks; cooking, especially for family get-to-gathers; sewing, which include the making of her square dancing dresses; participating in bridge clubs, and gardening. She was also a member of Our Lady of the Sorrows Catholic Church in McAllen.

A viewing will be held at the Sunset Funeral Home followed by a service at the Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
