Born on January 31, 1939, to the late Manuela Huerta and Pedro Sosa, Aida spent her life pouring love into her family and community. She dedicated her early years to the heart-centered work of raising her four children, instilling in them the values of love, family, compassion, and perseverance. Once her children grew, she entered the healthcare workforce, spending many dedicated years with Baptist Hospital. Aida was known for her versatile spirit, warmly serving patients and colleagues alike in admissions, as a nurse’s aide, and as a pharmacy technician.
Her passion for nurturing others never wavered. In her golden years, and right up until her final day, Aida poured her heart into the Foster Grandparent Program. Through her volunteer work, she offered warmth, wisdom, and unconditional support to countless children who affectionately knew her love, even being honored as Volunteer of the Year several times for her extraordinary dedication.
Beyond her lifelong dedication to service, Aida embraced joy and fun. She was an avid dancer who never missed an opportunity to move to the music, loved the thrill of visiting casinos and gambling with family and friends, and always looked forward to playing Bunco with the neighborhood ladies.
Aida was preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Reyes; her ex-spouse, Moises Reyes; and her siblings, Eva Devora, Ernest Trevino, and Yolanda Fernandez.
Her rich legacy of love lives on through her surviving children, Michael Reyes, Belinda Perez, and Dr. Roland Reyes. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Gloria Reyes. She was the proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Jennifer Chacon, John Reyes Jr., Angela Reyes, Roxanne Rodriguez, Robert Perez, Roland Perez, Parker Reyes, Lauren Reyes, and Katelyn Reyes. Aida was also blessed with 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, along with a wide circle of loving nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her laugh and warm embrace.
Aida’s family will forever treasure her boundless generosity, her playful spirit on the dance floor, and the enduring comfort of her love. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
