Albert Edward "Ned" Gates III, age 76, passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2022 in San Antonio, Texas after his long, hard-fought, and courageous battle with cancer. Born on April 16th in 1946 to Albert Edward Gates Jr. and Vivian Neal at BAMC, Ned retired from the USAF in 1989 and from Boysville in 2011. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings. Ned is survived by his wife, his dream girl, Ruby L. Gates; three sons, Jeffrey Gates (Mary), Travis Gates (Natalie), and Samuel Gates (Catherine); as well as his grandchildren: Zoey, Zane, Vivian, Miles, Zayla, Izora, and Landon. Ned also leaves behind many loving family members and friends. Beloved husband, Dad, Papa, and, "Nasty Ned."
