
Dutch, as he was known to his friends and family, received his bachelors degree from the University of Texas, and proudly served his country in the US Army for two years. After his military service, he returned to Cotulla where he began his long career in education.
He graduated from the Trinity University with a masters degree in education. He married the former Betty Lou Turman and both continued their teaching careers in San Antonio.
His first appointment as principal was at Burnet Elementary School; his educational horizon expanded when he opened the newly consolidated Burnet Elementary and Tafolla Middle School.
Dutch was preceded in death by his son Keith Jordan Knaggs and nephew David Knaggs.
He is survived by his beloved wife Betty; his brother John Ryan Knaggs and wife Helen of Austin, TX; two nephews: Bart Knaggs and Ryan Knaggs; one niece Lisa Knaggs and many devoted neighbors and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 21st from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Porter Loring on McCullough.
