

Lt. Col. Albert L. Seaver (USAF Ret.), 90, of San Antonio, died Monday, January 28, 2013. Col. Seaver was born in 1922 to Lola Yarbrough Seaver and Paul L. Seaver in New Smyrna Beach, FL. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville, FL. In 1942, he married Esther Brown Seaver in Jacksonville, FL. He was a veteran of WWII and served in the Army Air Corps from 1942 to 1946. He was recalled to active duty in the United States Air Force in 1951 and served until his retirement in 1969. He served in the Air Training Command(ATC), the Strategic Air command (SAC), the Air Defense Command (ADC), and the Tactical Air Command (TAC). During the Korean War, he was a bombardier in the B-29 when his plane was shot down by a Russian MiG over the Yalu River in North Korea. He was captured by the North Koreans and was held in a prison camp for nine months. After retirement, he attended college and graduated cum laude from the University of Texas, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in History in 1978. In 1982, Albert and Esther moved from Sherman, Texas, to San Antonio where they would live the rest of their lives. They were members of the First Presbyterian Church. Albert was active in volunteering for San Antonio Metropolitan Ministries (SAMM) an interfaith ministry serving the homeless, working in the food pantry, participating in First Presbyterian Church Bible studies, and in the KEYS adult ministry. Col. Seaver was preceded in death in by Esther Brown Seaver, his beloved wife of 58 years. He is survived by two sons: Albert L. Seaver, Jr, and wife Toni, of Whitesboro, Texas, and David M. Seaver and wife Reagon, of Georgetown, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren: John Seaver, Marshall Seaver, Will Seaver, Maggie Seaver Taylor and husband Brian, Shelley Seaver Franklin and husband Mark, Leigh Seaver Heinemeyer and husband Jeff; and six great-grandchildren: Travis Seaver, Taylor Seaver, Bailey Franklin, Elizabeth Franklin, Matthew Franklin, and Amber Heinemeyer; nieces, Dr. Paula Gizzie, Danese Seaver Andrews and Karen Seaver Johnson; nephew, P.L. Seaver III; great-nephew, Ryan Seicrist. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., February 8, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church San Antonio. Private graveside services for immediate family only will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.
