Although I was not fortunate enough to serve with him,out of all my ships ,that I served on Decatur was my favorite. and past members as well as those who served after me are to me my Brothers. I originally served as a TN Then a DC ..Later I became a BM as I was in Army.. My fondest memories are the stories and history of all who served,including Serafine..and as long as there is history we all will live on.

Pat, I was very saddened to hear the sad news of your husband's passing. Although I was unable to attend the survice on Saturday to pay my respects, I want you to know you and your family were in my thoughts and prayers. May God Bless you and your family,

To Pat & Frank: Mark was a very good man and we are going to miss him. I remember when he was the Radio merit badge counselor for Troop 343~Clay and Chase were excited about earning THAT merit badge because Mark showed the boys the wonder and fun of making your own radio, contacting others around the world and showing us how connected we all really are in this great big world! Our family will miss going out with your family and enjoying some of the local bands with all of you...I still remember the first band that Chase and Frank were in and the birthday party they played at and, of course, we had to go and listen to them! : These are just a couple of memories that we will cherish always and we are so glad to have known Mark and been able to share them with you. 
We are praying for all of your family that God gives you peace beyond all understanding during this difficult time and if you need anything, PLEASE do not hesitate to call any one of us. We love you! The Tomerlin Family

I will always remember Mark for his: Nautical expertise...he was my "go-to-guy" for all things Navy. His knowledge / reputation was well known and I would turn to him often. Love for the Decatur and those who served aboard her. He knew and appreciated the "tie that binds." Kind, giving and thoughtful demeanor in all situations. He was my moral compass concerning Decatur decisions. He never waivered and was always there for me. So...it is with great sadness that we hear the "tolling of the bell" for Mark. I salute and bid farewell and great tribute to my shipmate and offer his family and friends the wish for "Fair Winds and Following Seas"...always.

I enjoyed the special occassions that our families spent together. We all tend to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and forget what is important. Mark Albert, Without you I would not have my husband and the father of my children, my best friend, the love of my life and for that I thank you. You leave behind loved ones who will cherish the memories that we all made with you and will cling to those thoughts when we miss you.
