Alexandra "Alex" Renae Benitez

Alexandra “Alex” Renae Benitez, age 31, of San Antonio, began dancing in Heaven on Saturday, April 21, 2018. She was born July 02, 1986 in San Antonio, Texas to the late Adam Eugene Taylor and Karen Benitez-Montez. Alex was the big sister to Madison Kaitlyn Benitez-Montez.

In 1990, at the tender age of 4, she was selected to serve as the Easter Seals Poster child. Despite her physical disabilities, she never allowed that to prevent her from achieving success. She graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 2004. She had the heart of a Saint with an infectious laugh that would brighten the day of everyone she met. She enjoyed her work in the daycare; children all loved her.

She enjoyed dancing and especially country music, she was a loyal fan of Luke Bryan--never missing a single concert performance. The highlight of 2014 was the night she got to meet Luke at a concert when he left the stage to meet her sitting in the front row.

She had a beautiful way of building and maintaining special relationships with those she loved; her papo, Mike will be missing her nightly telephone calls.

She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Yolanda Benitez, of San Antonio; her aunt, Gisele Sotelo, of San Antonio; and her uncle, Rudy Soria, of San Antonio.

She is survived by her mother, Karen (John) Montez; sisters, Madison Kaitlyn Montez, Dezirae Marie Alexander; grandfather, Mike Benitez; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many close friends she considered family.

Until we see you again our beautiful angel, you are deeply missed and constantly loved—forever!

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Alex. She was such a wonderful young lady, that achieved so much despite her struggles. She was an inspiration to me and I loved working with her at the paint store. May Gods peace be with Karen, John and the rest of the family during this time. Rest in Peace dear friend.
