Alexis Cruz

Alex was born on August 16, 1950, to Santos Cruz and Maria Ortiz in Yauco, Puerto Rico. He grew up in the Bronx and attended Luis D Brandeis High School. After graduating, he decided to join the US Air Force, where he served for 12 years.

During his time in the Air Force and working for Air Force Services, Alex was stationed at several bases around the world and was involved in a number of important programs. He also served as a Deputy with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department. He was well-respected by his colleagues and superiors alike for his dedication, discipline, and mentorship. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Human Resource from St. Leo College.

Alex settled down in San Antonio. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Patricia, and a loving father to his children, Naya, Bianca, AJ, and Nick. In his free time, he enjoyed working around the house and tending to his Corvettes.Alex will be deeply missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his children, 10 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife.

A memorial service will be held at on Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at 12:30 pm, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. Graveside service will follow immediately at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
