Alfonso Barrera Aguilar, beloved father, grandfather and great grandfather, peacefully went to be with the Lord on August 16, 2021 at the age of 81. Mr. Aguilar was born in San Antonio, TX son of the late Pete B. and Anita (Barrera) Aguilar. He worked at Friedrich building commercial refrigerators prior to joining the US Postal Service, where he retired after 34+ years as a postal clerk. He always prided himself in knowing the zip codes of all the streets in San Antonio. Mr. Aguilar was a loving father who always valued family above all else and was extremely grateful for being blessed with a large family. In addition to his parents, he is reunited in Heaven with his most cherished wife Marie L. Aguilar; son Paul D. Aguilar; brothers Pete B. Aguilar, Jr., Antonio Aguilar and Ernest Aguilar.
He is survived by his children: son Alfonso E. Aguilar, daughter Diana L. Henry (Bob), son Richard L. Aguilar (Norma); daughter Cecilia T. Aguilar; son Michael A. Aguilar (Kris); daughter Laura J. Aguilar (Michael Trotter); his sisters Alice Hunt and Claudia Plasket, brothers Frank Aguilar and John Aguilar; grandchildren Shain, Angelica, Samantha, Jason, Mona Lisa, Heather, Lindsey and Kieran; numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday August 25, 2021 from 5:00PM to 9:00PM at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd, 78237. A rosary will follow at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday August 26, 2021 at 10:00AM at Basilica of the National Shrine of the Little Flower Church 1715 N. Zarzamora St, 78201. Followed by interment at San Fernando Cemetery II 746 Castroville Road 78237 .
