Lieutenant Colonel (retired) Alfred G. Borth, age 87, passed away on January 10, 2022 in New Braunfels, Texas. He was born on December 29, 1934 in Wausau, Wisconsin but spent his formative years in Wadsworth Ohio. Alfred was a beloved father, grandfather brother and son who will be dearly missed.
Alfred was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Patricia Lou Patterson Borth; his parents, Alfred Norbert and Anna Winters Borth; his brothers Robert and Norbert Borth. He is survived by his children, Alicia Weed and her husband, Kevin, and Laura Dickson; and his grandchildren, Casey, Cody, Makayla and several nephews and a niece.
Alfred had a distinguished career in the military. He served in the Army for 28 years in many positions but of the greatest impact, he was a Medical Service Corps “Dustoff” helicopter pilot. He had two tours in Vietnam, in 1965 and 1968, serving his fellow soldiers. After his retirement from the Army, he taught computer science at San Antonio College for a few years. When he and Pat decided to really retire, they sold their home in San Antonio, bought a motorhome and travelled all over the United States (and much of Canada) visiting 48 of the 50 states including Alaska (but sadly not Hawaii, as their motorhome wouldn’t float).
Their last years together were spent at Brookdale of Alamo Heights/Juniper Village of Lincoln Heights in San Antonio. During their stay they were named Homecoming King and Queen as well as Valentine’s Day Prince and Princess.
Forever in our hearts -- May he rest in peace.
