A Life of Service and Achievement
Born on July 27, 1942, in Como, Texas, Alfred was the son of the late Mr. John D. Hollins and Mrs. Ruby Hollins (Johnson). He graduated from Dunbar High School in Lubbock, Texas, before pursuing higher education at Texas Tech University. A proud patriot, Alfred served his country with honor as a veteran of the United States Army. His commitment to public service continued throughout his professional life in San Antonio, where he worked for Southwestern Bell for many years before dedicating over two decades to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office. He retired as a respected Business Office Administrator, leaving behind a lasting legacy of integrity, leadership, and hard work. Beyond his career, Alfred was a pillar of his community. He served as a past President of the Rotary Club and, upon his retirement from Bexar County, was distinguished with the prestigious title of Honorary Hidalgo in recognition of his outstanding community service. Faith and Fellowship of Alfred’s life was firmly rooted in his Christian faith. As a longtime, faithful member of the MacArthur Park Church of Christ in San Antonio, his church community served as a vital foundation of strength and brought him a circle of lifelong friends. Alfred cherished the holiday season, always looking forward to spending Christmas surrounded by his family. He also made treasured annual visits to his wife's family in Dallas, reinforcing the deep bonds of kinship.
