Alfred "Al" Jones was born on July 16, 1955, in Portsmouth, Virginia. From an early age, he showed a strong work ethic, a sharp mind, a wonderful sense of humor, and a genuine heart for serving others.
In 1973, Al began 24 years of proud service in the United States Air Force, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant. After retiring from the military, he brought that same discipline and professionalism into a civilian career in medical logistics.
Outside of work, Al's greatest joys were sports and time with family. Whether he was breaking down team stats or watching a game and cheering on his favorite teams, sports gave him endless pleasure and helped create lasting memories with the people he loved.
Al was preceded in death by his birth mother, Lillie Ree, his parents, Horace and Perlie Mae, his brother, Ezel "Jimmy," and his sister, Winifred.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his three children, Marlon, Monique, and Jamaal, his eight grandchildren, Damien, Elijah, Isaiah, Kingston, Arianna, Jurryiah, Xion, and Joshua, his three siblings, Bobby, Leslie "Bates," and Zara, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, lifelong friends, and his military brothers and sisters.
Al's legacy lives on not only in what he achieved, but in the kindness, generosity, and love he shared so freely. Though he is no longer with us, his laughter and strength remain in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
