

Alfred served his country during World War II. He served in the infantry with the Second Division as a Ranger in Europe and later was transferred to the 8th Air Force 445th Bombardment Group. He fought in the following battles: Omaha Beach on D Day St. Lo in Normandy, Ardennes, France, Belgium and Germany. He was awarded two Purple Hearts with Oak Leaf Clusters, Silver Battle Star, Bronze Star Medal and several others.
He retired in 1971 from Lackland AFB, after 25 years of civil service.
Alfred was also an avid fisherman. "Dutch" taught art classes at the Summit at Newforest, where he lived.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret and his parents, Howard L. Peters and Juanita Lopez Peters. He was also preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Juanita Garcia, Joe Lopez, Delfina Obeido, Edward F. Peters and Ruth Santos.
He is survived by a nephew, Rick Peters and wife, Mary of Houston; nieces, Norma Lopez and husband, Manuel, Olga Guevara and husband, Al, Helen Flores and husband, Dick and Thelma Ramirez and husband, Lupe of Fort Worth.
The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of the Summit for their kindness and appreciation.
He always said, "This is as close as you can get to Heaven without having St. Peter open the gate".
