Alice graduated from Brackenridge High School and married Dan J. Collins III shortly after WWII. Alice and Dan had four sons. Alice loved her sons and was the most devout cheerleader at all of her sons activities, never missing any of their events, even traveling after work for out of town games. Alice began her career in employee management at Frederich’s Air Conditioning and moved to USAA where she was responsible for hiring thousands of current and retired USAA employees. She retired from USAA after 30+ years. Alice loved to travel and made numerous trips with her husband, Dan. Nearly annual trips to Las Vegas and Ruidosa were followed by trips to Spain and the United Kingdom, Maine, Washington DC, Tennessee, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York City and the Dominican Republic. She loved to shop and spent nearly every Saturday making the rounds of all the malls in San Antonio. Alice also loved to bake and treated the family to a wide assortment of pies each Christmas. A generous gift giver, Alice showered her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with gifts at each Christmas. She and her husband were avid bowlers for many years. In her later years, Alice was active in her bridge and poker club and loved to play cards once a week. She was a wiz at putting puzzles together. Alice enjoyed watching Lawerence Welk on Saturdays and reminiscing about her love of dancing especially to the music of the 1940’s.
