Our sweet, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend left this earth on September 3, 2026. Alice Ramirez Reyes was born, at home, on October 16, 1930 to Felix and Concepcion Ramirez. She grew up on the West side of San Antonio and graduated from Sidney Lanier High class of 1947. She graduated at the age of 16 because she wanted to "already" get her life started. Her work career consisted of being a bookkeeper for several small companies until she married Luis Reyes in 1953 (married 72 years). After being a "military" wife, for a short time, she and Luis settled back in San Antonio. Alice created a loving and caring home.
The remainder of her work career included an elementary school secretary at John B Hood SAISD, a library aid at her alma mater, Lanier High School, and part-time church secretary Holy Rosary.
Alice was always drawn to service, as a Girl Scout leader, PTA, Athletic Booster member and a church secretary answering the phones.
She absolutely adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Taking care of them was a joy to her. Her other favorite past time was shopping and returning purchases.
Her favorite store was Dillards and JCPenney. In the past, it was Frost Bros., Joskes, Rhodes, and Foley's. A weekly shopping trip to those department stores was a must. On Fridays, Alice was at the beauty shop, 11:00 a.m.
Alice will be most remembered for her cooking and baking.
She is preceded, in death, by her husband Luis Reyes, her daughter-in-law Margaret Reyes, her grandson Christopher Reyes, her parents, her sisters Velia Guerrero, Olivia Young, brothers Felix Ramirez Jr. and Vicente Ramirez. Her brothers-in-law Lionel Pena, Richard Reyes, William Breedlove, Bernard Reyes, James E. Young, and John Walsh. Sister-in-laws Marie Breedlove, Constance Pena, Guadalupe Reyes and Josephine Ramirez.
She is survived by her children Mary Nancy Cardenas (Pablo), Michael Reyes (Cindi), and stepdaughter Roxanne Foster (Wesley). Her grand-children Angela Tirado (Danny), Briana Cardenas (Joe, David Cardenas (Lucero), Stephen Reyes (Gabby) and Luis Gustavo Reyes. Great-grandchildren Audriella Cabrera, Mariah Tirado, Makaylah Tirado, Robert Barbosa, Drake Reyes, Christopher Tirado, Liliana Barbosa, Olivia Tirado and Adalina Reyes. Sisters Irene Walsh and Concepcion Lepel (Bob); numerous nieces and nephews.
