She was very loving and affectionate. Mom had a wonderful sense of humor. She was friendly, outgoing and well loved by friends and family. Mom was generous and thoughtful. I think if she had been a rich woman, she would've given it all away, but she was rich indeed for she was loved and blessed and lived a full life. Mom had a green thumb and always had pretty plants both inside and outside her home. Homemaking was her thing and she was very good at it! She was well known for being a good cook and made the best flour tortillas! She set a wonderful example of taking care of her home and her children. Later when dad had a stroke and was confined to a wheelchair, mom took care of him for many years.
Mom loved attending mass at St. Timothy Catholic church. She was a woman of faith and a prayer warrior. She served in the Spanish choir for over thirty years. I had the privilege of being in that same choir with her for four years. We shared such special memories and truly loved singing to our Lord Jesus.
Mom enjoyed reading her Bible and working on Word Find puzzles. She loved listening to music and dancing. Going to the park was one of her favorite things, but eating out was even better. Mexican Manhattan and Rita's Cafe were her favorite restaurants.
Mom suffered from Alzheimer's and was a resident at Chandler Estate Nursing home for many years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and other games and activities. Special outings were fun for her. She liked getting her hair done at Chandler and enjoyed sitting out in the beautiful garden where she could see and feed the pigeons. She liked watching the fish in the big aquarium in the lobby. She looked forward to Family Gatherings at the Chandler House. It was big enough to accommodate our growing families and it was just next door to the nursing home. We made precious memories that will live in our hearts always.
We were so blessed to have been loved by this wonderful woman who was truly kindhearted and full of love.
Thank you mom for all the years filled with good memories of our times well spent with you. We will always love you and remember all that you taught us, especially to love God.
