Alice C. Hernandez entered into the loving arms of Our Lord on March 14, 2021 at the age of 66. She was born in Mission, Tx on August 22, 1954 and moved to San Antonio shortly after. Alice was born to Alicia Lopez and Alfredo Jose Medrano and was the middle child of 6.
Alice married her husband Jose A. Hernandez on January 25, 1981. She was a wonderful wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and an amazing grandmother. Alice was a long-standing member of Cornerstone Church. Her faith was very strong in her walk with the Lord. Alice retired from San Antonio Independent School District as a Community Liaison for Connell Middle School.
Alice had a heart of Gold. She loved so much and was loved by many. Alice enjoyed watching her fur babies play out in the sun, gardening in her back yard, cooking for everyone and never let anyone leave her home hungry. When she could, Alice enjoyed traveling to some of her favorite hotspots with friends, but she really enjoyed talking and making memories with her kids and helping her grandson with his Spanish assignments.
Alice will be forever loved and missed by so many. She will be reunited in heaven with her parents, Alfredo Jose and Alicia Lopez Medrano; sister, Lydia M. Vara; and husband, Jose A. Hernandez.
Alice is survived and will always be remembered by her children, Ramona McDevitt, her husband Greg McDevitt, Mark Anthony Chavez, and Sarah Hernandez; grandson, Gavin Matthew McDevitt whom she adored very much; siblings, San Juanita Medrano, Juan L. Medrano (Tamie), Rosa Castro (Robert), and Alfred Medrano Jr. (Marina); brother-in-law, Keith A. Vara; and numerous nieces and nephews that were very special to her. She had Comadres and Compadres and many dear friends.
