Alicia was married for 25 years, then divorced. In addition to being a loving and caring mother of two, Alicia was also an educator. She taught kindergarten through 2nd grade for SAISD, and retired after 17 years. Alicia's love and passion for teaching was evident in the students and their parents who returned to share how they had proceeded in life.
In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, embroidering and crocheting all which allowed her creative side to shine. She also loved gardening…violets were her favorite. She was an avid reader, with Steig Larsson and James Patterson being two of her favorite authors. Early in her marriage, she enjoyed dance clubs, spending time with family and friends who shared the same interest. Alicia enjoyed hosting The King William Fair during Fiesta where she always looked forward to spending time with friends and family.
Alicia was preceded in death by her parents. Her loving memory will be cherished by her brother, Ernest Herrera, daughter, Laura Alfaro; son, Carlos Reyes; seven grandchildren, Anita, Abraham, Sarah, Stephanie, Clarissa, Adriana and Andres; numerous relatives and close friends.
