Alla Lee Roney

Alla Lee Roney, age 91 died June 28, 2012. Mrs. Roney was born on October 20, 1920 to Robert Benjamin and Mary Howerton Lee in Eufaula, Alabama. After WWII, she left Eufaula to join her husband Bill with his military assignments for the US Army. They lived in many different places in the United States as well as Germany. In 1962, Bill was assigned to Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas and San Antonio became their permanent home.

Mrs. Roney retired from J.C. Penney Corporation after working 25 years at the Windsor Park Mall location. Many of those years were spent as manager of the ladies apparel department. Mrs. Roney loved her family and friends, was proud of her work with J.C. Penney, enjoyed gardening, and had many pets that were special to her.

Mrs. Roney was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Roney; daughters Julia Madeline Braswell and Rhonda Roney Burns; and sister, Robbie Lee Surprise. She is survived by one sister, Mary Lee Edwards of Cornelia, Georgia and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will take place Thursday, July 5th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6th at 12:00 noon at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
