Alma Taylor Burke

Alma T. Burke, of San Antonio, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2001. Born June 11, 1916 in Laredo, Texas, Alma was the youngest of 6 children. She married John J. Burke, Jr., of Beeville, Texas and, in 1951 moved to San Antonio where she dedicated her time to her family and various charities. Alma was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Catholic Church Altar Society and St. Paul's Jefferson Co-op. She also devoted much of her time and energy to the St. Peter's/St. Joseph's Children's Home. Alma was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, John J. Burke, Jr. Survivors include sons, John J. Burke, III and wife Betty of Charlotte, N.C., Lott T. Burke and wife, Patricia of San Antonio and daughter Melanie Burke Ross of San Antonio; grandchildren Lisa Burke Owen and husband John, John Burke IV, Patrick and Jeremy Burke of Charlotte, NC, Christopher, Mary Kathleen and Jackie Burke of San Antonio, and Aimee Taylor Ross of San Antonio; great-grandchild Cody Owen of Charlotte, NC; sister Jeanette T. Till of Pearland, TX, many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
